Irish Americans have celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in some fashion since 1737. It’s a somber observance in Ireland, where the faithful partake in rituals like praying to the day’s patron saint;  there are many Irish Americans who do the same. Still, in the United States, it’s more likely you’ll see parades and shamrock-clad revelers drinking green liquids. At Kildare’s in West Chester, we pay homage to St. Patrick and our Irish heritage by serving authentic Irish fare and drink all week long.

We will also be hosting a range of events leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, from a trad session (that’s real Irish music!) to a 5K run. Our owner, Dane Gray, explains, “On the 12th, we’re hosting a traditional music session. Paraic Keane is the son of Sean Keane, a member of The Chieftains, and he is a just phenomenal fiddle player. Paraic will be bringing a bunch of musicians to join him for trad sessions in and around Philadelphia, and we lucked out to be on his list. It’s going to be really fantastic.”
