Things are getting heated in the UEFA Champions League as we approach the finals, and Kildare’s of West Chester is the perfect place to watch the madness unfold. Teams from across Europe have battled it out to make it to the quarter finals. Only eight teams will go on to compete starting in April: Barcelona, Bayern München, Borussia Dortmund, Leicester City, Monaco, Juventus, Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid. It is shaping up to to be quite an exciting quarter final that will lead into the semi-finals in May and the finals in June.

We’re excited about the upcoming high-caliber competition—in addition to what’s become a madcap Irish holiday at our pub. Our owner, Dane Gray, is an active soccer player and looks forward to these tournaments. “Ultimately, the best teams in Europe play an entire competition against each other,” he said. “As far as quality of the teams and the players goes, it doesn’t get better than the UEFA Champions League.”

A lot of buzz surrounds the competition in our area in general, but especially because a local favorite is in the midst of it all. Dane explains,“ Christian Pulisic, from Hershey, is on Borussia Dortmund, which is one of the best teams in Germany. He’s only 18, but has been overseas playing soccer for a few years now; he might already be the best player on the U.S. men’s team, too. He’s fantastic!”

No one does soccer like Kildare’s! Keep an eye on our schedule and plan to join us for some authentic Irish grub and a cold pint. If you’re looking for something different—yet tried and true—we recommend the Irish classic combination: Guinness and Jameson. They go together so well when paired with the clamor of crowds eager to watch their teams.

Kildare’s in West Chester is a destination: an authentic Irish pub that has something for everyone. We’re a place to bring the family for weekend brunch; cheer your favorite soccer (or American football) team; enjoy next-level fare at a business lunch, dinner with friends or special event; spend happy hour (questionable dance moves and all); and, of course, imbibe great beer, whiskey and other adult libations. Join us and find out why we’re not your average Irish pub.
